Listen to the opening track of my new album now

Happy Friday, all,

“Of Framingham,” the opening track to my new album Ripples of the Past, is now available to stream everywhere. Listen to it now and check out my first-ever visualizer (we’re not calling it a music video, but I guess you could if you really wanted to) for the song below—a montage of clips featuring two-year-old me.

This is the final song I’ll be sharing with you before the full Ripples of the Past album release on September 12. You can preorder the album now (and download all five pre-release singles I’ve previewed thus far immediately) on digital download and limited edition CD. Lyrics are below.

[Verse 1]
Daylight
Taking accounting of a past life
If weather doesn’t cause a late blight
I know I’ll see you some someday
[Verse 2]
Longing
Painting with colors of the dawning
If you can hear notes from these heartstrings
I know I’ll see you some someday
[B-Section 1]
Like the right book from a shelf
Always looking for myself
But does myself ever find me?
And the axiom’s quite strange
That people grow and people change
When they’re often stationary
[Verse 3]
Answers
We seldom ever get the answers
But when the stillness gives me a gesture
I know I’ll see you some, some someday
[B-Section 2]
Like the right book from a shelf
Always looking for myself
But does myself ever find me?
And it’s really not complex
I don’t call and you don’t text
But I still care for you madly

I recently got to talk with the e-magazine Aldora Britain Records about the project, my background and influences, and my thoughts on the future of the music industry. You can check out that interview here, starting on page 15.

As always, if anything I’m doing resonates with you, I appreciate you sharing it far and wide.

Talk real soon,

- Ray

Ray Curenton - The Year That Changed Everything

Friends, I’ve been trying to complete the song I’ve just released today since 2013. It can be very difficult to release painful memories and emotions into words, to give voice to those words, and then to find the courage to share that voice with the world. Each song that I’ve shared from this new album has been a similar kind of trust fall: trusting myself enough as a communicator of my own story, and trusting you all to have open ears and hearts to hear it. But this song in particular is...
