New song "Once Familiar Friend" is out today

Happy Friday once again,

The third single from my forthcoming album, "Once Familiar Friend," is now available everywhere.

I cannot overstate my gratitude for the positive reception and support I've been getting for this new music. Transitioning to a new genre is a significant risk for any artist to take, and I feel incredibly blessed by the positivity I've received these past few months.

The lyrics are below. If the new song touches you and you'd like to help me reach new people, please take a couple of seconds to save the song, add it to your playlist, or text it to a friend.

Lyrics:
[Verse 1]
My once familiar friend
Hatching songs, playing and laughing
Forgathered overnight
To begin pleasant and tame
Oh come, familiar friend
Would you know me as companion?
I offer you this form
Sacred flesh, vernal and plain

[Verse 2]
Oh no, familiar friend
I’ve misconstrued your affections
And tainted what we share
Baffled eyes fill me with shame
My once familiar friend
Eden scarred, chastened, and wretched
To censure my mistake
You extort, never the same

I'll leave you with this great review for the album's first single "NFC" by music blog Uranium Waves.

Talk again real soon,

- Ray

Ray Curenton - The Year That Changed Everything

Friends, I’ve been trying to complete the song I’ve just released today since 2013. It can be very difficult to release painful memories and emotions into words, to give voice to those words, and then to find the courage to share that voice with the world. Each song that I’ve shared from this new album has been a similar kind of trust fall: trusting myself enough as a communicator of my own story, and trusting you all to have open ears and hearts to hear it. But this song in particular is...
